Knoxville, Ark. – Since our arrival here, we have not been Idle. We have held services three Sundays of each month at two different points.  The brethren have made a good impression on the people here.  We expect to hold a series of meetings, commencing Dec. 12.  During the meetings we expect or organize with about twenty members, and closed with a love feast.  The meetings will be held in the M. E. church in Knoxville. Brethren contemplating to see this country should make a note of the above meetings and be with us, especially ministers.  The members are generally well satisfied here, and the prospects are promising to build up a large colony of Brethren.  We invite loyal members among us. May the Lord Bless the Messenger in its grand mission! – Henry Brubaker, Nov. 15

From the Knoxville Church, Ark.

Dec. 16, 15 1 P. M., the members, belonging to the Brethren’s Colony at this place met and organized a church.  Eld. Weimer, from Washington County, Ark., directed the work. We have now twenty members, including one elder, two ministers in the second degree and two deacons. The organization is to be known as the Knoxville church.  Bro. Henry Brubaker was chosen to be our elder. Bro. J. S. Bosserman was advanced to the second degree of the ministry and Bro. Moses Stutzman was elected deacon.  Brethren Bosserman and Stutzman with their wives, were duly installed.  Arrangement were made for a love feast, which was held in the M. E. church on Friday evening, Dec. 18.  This closed a week’s meetings, which Bro. Weimer conducted for us.

Our doctrine is new to the people here, and we feel that our every-day lives and conversation will tell as much in its favor. – if we live what we profess. – as will preaching it form the pulpit. May our love to God help each and all, here and elsewhere, to be faithful to him in living up to our religious promises!  Catharine Berry VanDyke.
