From Winchester, Idaho

Bro. H. C. Longanecker and wife, from Tekoa, Wash., came to us Feb. 4 and conducted two weeks’ series of meetings.  We were glad to have Bro. Longanecker with us, as he was chosen elder of the Nezperce church some time ago. While he was here, we were organized into a local congregation.  We have thirteen members in and near New Winchester.  The boundary lines are as follows: On the north, the Clearwater church: on the west the State line; on the west, the first township line west, Boise meridian; on the south the line is not decided yet. If there are any members living in this church, whose names are not on the roll of the church book, please notify the writer.

The church officers for the new congregation are as follows:  Bro Longanecker, elder for one year.  Bro. John Shuss, Jr., clerk; Bro. Harry Kale, treasurer; the writer, corresponding secretary and Messenger agent; Brethren John Wilsey, John Shuss, Jr., and Harry Kale, trustees.  Bro John Wilsey was elected to the deacon’s office.  He and his wife were duly installed.  We have one deacon and one minister in the second degree.

We hold services in our new church.  we hope to dedicate it next summer.  We have it rented to the school district, to be used for educational work.  The people built two temporary schoolhouse. The Presbyterian church and the Brethren church are now rented to accommodate the school children. The district has started to build a seven-room school building, which will be finished some time next summer.  If any members of the Brethren are passing through Northern Idaho, we would be pleased to have them stop off and see our new country and it business enterprises.  Amanda E. Flory.  Winchester, Idaho, Feb. 24.
