The Love-feast in Hancock County, Iowa

Our feast will long be remembered by those that participated in it. It was the first one ever held in this County. Brethren J. F. Ikenberry from the Greene church, Butler County; Wm. W. Ikenberry, from the Franklin County church, all of Iowa, were with us and labored for us.

In the morning, prior to our feast we were organized into a church. Brethren J. F. Ikenberry and Wm. Ikenberry were the elders who officiated in the organization. Our church is know as the Coon River church, and extends over Hancock and Wright Counties. We are within the bounds of the District of  Northern Iowa, Minnesota and South Dakota.

Bro. Wm. Ikenberry, of the South Waterloo church, has the oversight over out church. Bro. Geo. Aschenbrenner is our minister, The following officers were elected: Deacons, brethren Elias Long and Daniel Aschenbrenner. The writer was also chosen permanent secretary and corresponding secretary. Our treasurer is Bro. Elias Long. Our membership numbers eighteen at present. Brother and sister Hixson, from the Garrison church, will make this their home as soon as they can get moved. This will swell our number to twenty.

We would be glad to have those who are seeking homes, to come and view the land in this County before purchasing. Especially would we desire laborers in God’s vineyard for we have but one minister, and while the harvest is great the laborers are few. Any coming by rail will please give me notice a few days before they cone and I will see that they are taken wherever desires. We desire an interest in the prayers of all.  Daniel Aschenbrenner.   Britt. Iowa
