We had not heard any of our minister preach for two years, until Feb. 14, when our dear brother S. A. Honberger, arrived at this place.  He preached in town on Saturday night and Sunday. Then we went to the two Mile church, two and one-half miles west of town where we continued the meetings until March 4, when we met for the purpose of organizing ourselves properly for future work.   After agreeing to carry out the principles of the Gospel, as practiced by the Brethren, we agreed to organize under the name of “Two Mile Creek Church.”

Bro. J. J. Troxel was chosen as elder, with Bro. S. A. Honberger as an assistant. Although we are few in number, we have the promise of more jointing in with us in the near future.  The doctrine is new here, but some are searching the Scriptures, to see whether these things are so.  Our brother did not shun to declare the whole Gospel to his hearers.  There were no additions by baptism, but on returned to the fold, who as with gladness received.  Bro. Honberger did much good while he was here.  He visited from house to house between meetings and also distributed many tracts.

Bro. J. T. Mason, of Cabool, Texas Co., Mo., has promised to come and hold some meeting for us before long.  Bro. Troxel, our elder, lives at the above place also, and we hope that he will pay us some visits.  We will have preaching once a month at Two Mile.  As soon as the time our meeting is established, we will report to the Messenger and if any our ministering brethren, passing on the Kansas City, Fort Scott & Memphis R. R., can stop with us, we will gladly receive them.  Please notify us, previous to arrival, so that we may make arrangements for meetings.  Mary E. Switzer.
