From Weaubleau, Mo.

Bro. David Bowman came to us Aug. 11, and held meetings at Onion Hill school-house till the 23rd, preaching only at night, and two Sundays at eleven o’clock. There were no immediate additions, but the members are much encouraged and built up in the most holy faith.  We believe that if the work is properly followed up, many will be brought into the fold at this place, as several have expressed themselves favorable to the doctrine of the Brethren.  It was thought best by Bro. Bowman to organize the members here into a church, and also to hold a love-feast at the close of the meetings.  Aug. 24 was appointed for the council-meeting and love feast.  All members being willing to organize, the first business of meeting was the reading of church letters, and the reception of two by letter.  As we had one deacon with us, he was received as such.  The members thought best to elect as such.  The members thought best to elect another deacon, and the lot fell on the writer, who was duly installed.  Our love-feast services commenced at seven o’clock. Twenty two members surrounded the Lord’s table to commemorate the death and sufferings of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We had an enjoyable meeting, long to be remembered by all present.  Ministering brethren present were elders A. A. Killingsworth, Jacob Yost and Jacob Bowman.  The latter officiated at our love-feast.  The church at this place will be known as the Weaubleau church.  Brethren pray for us in this part of God’s moral vineyard.  God help the good work to go on every-where!  W.
