From Wallace, Lincoln Co., Nebr.

Oct. 29 Eld Stambaugh come to us and gave three soul-stirring sermons, by which saints were aroused to their duties and sinners made to tremble.  On Saturday, Nov. 1, Eld. D. Bechtelheimer also came to our assistance. In the afternoon the same day the church was called upon to consider the quest of an organization.  All that were present were favorable to it.  Several members who will be included in this body, were not present at the meeting, owing to sickness, etc.  After the letters were read of those present, an organization was effected.  It was decided to name the body “The Wallace Congregation, Lincoln Co., Nebr.”

As there was not minister or deacon among us, it was decided to elect on brother to each office.  There being a tie between two of those, voted for as minister, the writer, John K. Shively, and Bro. Eli Shoemaker were both elected to that office.  Bro. Simon H. Shively (son of the writer) was chosen for deacon.  The burden is a heavy one, and we earnestly crave an interest in the prayers of the Brotherhood in our behalf.

On Saturday evening, Sunday and Sunday evening the brethren gave us some soul-cheering sermons.  On Sunday afternoon two dear souls were baptized, - an aged man and his son. We have also one more application for baptism, and others, we think, are  counting the cost, and will soon join our ranks .

Our little flock here numbers about twenty members.  We had a Communion on Saturday evening, which was much enjoyed by all.  Bro. Allen Cripe was appointed as our Secretary, and sister Phoebe Beery as our Treasurer.  We hope our brethren and sisters, whom we have left in the East, will remember us at a Throne of Grace that we may prove faithful to the end!.  J.
