We, the members of the Union City church met in council, April 4, for the special purpose of dividing our church district. Eld. Tobias Krider, Eld. J. Katherman and Bro. G. C. Stump were present and assisted in the work. The subject was well considered, then disposed of, we hope, to the satisfaction of all. The elders of adjoining Districts will meet with the brethren and sisters at the Pleasant Valley meeting-house April 22, to more fully organize. May God's choicest blessing ever rest upon them that they may be able to press forward in the noble work that is now resting upon them.

We send Bro. Henry Cook and Bro. Samuel Blocher as delegates to District Meeting, and Bro. Blocher to Annual Meeting. Bro. Amos Cook was chosen as Superintendent of our Sunday-school and Bro. Henry Kunkle as Assistant. Our love-feast will occur Oct. 15, at the Brick church, beginning at 10 A. M. All business that came before the meeting was disposed of satisfactorily.

From the Pleasant Valley Church, Ohio.

In Messenger No. 16 sister Esta Simmons gave notice of the council-meeting which occurred in

the Union City church, April 4, when it was unanimously decided to divide the territory of said

church and organize a new church in the Northern part. April 22 the adjoining elders and others

met with the Brethren at the Pleasant Valley house, to complete the organization. Elders present

were Jeremiah Katherman, Tobias Kreider, Joseph Groff and W. K. Simmons, Quite an amount of business came before the meeting but all was disposed of satisfactorily. A clerk for the church and ako trustees were elected. The new congregation will be known as the Pleasant Valley church. Our love-feast will occur Sept. 18, commencing at 2 o'clock P. M. Arrangements were also made for quarterly councils. Bro. A. C. Young was elected Sunday-school Superintendent and Bro. B. F. Sharp, Assistant. Delegates to District Meeting are brethren A. C. Young and the writer; the latter will also represent the church at Annual Meeting. It was also decided to elect a minister and two deacons. Bro. B. F. Sharp was elected to the ministry while brethren David Minnich and Daniel Clark were chosen to the office of deacon. Bro. A. C. Young was advanced to the second degree of the ministry. These are all young brethren of promise and they, with their wives, were installed with great solemnity. I hope and pray that they will fill their callings with honor to God and to the prosperity of the church. Eld. W. K. Simmons has the care of the church. This congregation covers a territory of about one hundred and ninety square miles. We have at present about eighty-five members,—two ministers in the second degree, one in the first degree and four deacons. Here is a great opportunity for missionary work at home. We kindly invite ministers to visit us and help us to build up the cause of Christ. Silas Gilbert.
