Our Trip to Harrison, Okla.

We, a little band of God’s children, went to Harrison to attend a council and love feast Nov. 20.  We had a pleasant journey and enjoyed meeting with the brethren and sisters we had never met before as well as those we met us there.  Brother and Sister Worrell, from Pain county met us there.  The church at Harrison granted us the privilege of organizing.  We reach home Nov. 23, and Nov. 25 Bro. Edgecomb came. He gave us several good sermons.  We had meeting Thanksgiving day.

On Saturday, Dec. 5. We met a Bro. A. T. Fillmore’s and organized.  Bro. Edgecomb assisted us in the work.  Bro. A. G. Fillmore was chosen elder.  Sister Nettie Worrell was chosen secretary.  We also elected a solicitor and treasurer, and the writer was chosen as corresponded to the Messenger. Bro. Edgecomb remained until Monday, Dec. 7.  During the time he was with us he gave us fifteen sermons, which encouraged us on our way.  Though there are but few of us in number, we have promise.  We will hold our regular council every quarter.

We are in hope this country will prove all right, and we will have a large church here.  Though we have not had any rain for a long time, crops have done real well.  We decided to name our church the Red River church.

Any wanting to look at this country, let the writer know and we will see that they are cared for.  We are enjoying a visit with my father, from Kansas, at present.  We desire the interest of the Brethren in our behalf.

Red River church met in council at the home of Sister Nettie Worrell.  We organized at this place last December, with eight members.  We have preaching twice a month; have no churchhouse but a large schoolhouse every three miles that is open for meeting.  we are thinking of holding a love feast his fall.  Anybody wishing to know more about this country, address A. G. Fillmore or the writer.  We have a nice country.  Anyone wanting to look at this country, we will meet them and show them. – Edna Cooper, Frederick, Okla., June. 11

Red River churchhouse, 32x50 in size, was dedicated Aug. 30, Bro. Appleman, of Thomas,, conducted a two week’s meeting, closing Sept. 13,  One was received by baptism.  Our brother did commendable work in arousing the members to a more holy consecration of their lives to the Master’s service. On Saturday, Sept. 12, Bro. Marchand was called to the ministry, and Brethren G. A. Fillmore and Otho Pobst to the deacon’s office.  In the evening forty-seven members surrounded the Lord’s table in a communion service, Bro. Appleman officiating. – A. B.
