Dear Brethren Editors:-

You will please notice in your worthy paper, that the writer was permitted to meet with the Brethren in Clearfield county, Pa., on the 8th of September, 1877, to assist them in organizing a church, and dividing what is known as the Montgomery District into two districts.  The one retaining the original name, and the new one the brethren decided to call “Rockton.”  The resident minister is brother Peter Beer.  His address is Rockton, Clearfield Co. Pa.  inasmuch as there was no deacon in this district, the brethren held a choice which resulted in calling brother Charles Brown to serve in that office.  During the meeting held we believe good impressions were made upon the minds of many, while one, like Mary of old, chose that good part, and was buried with Christ in baptism, and arose to walk in the newness of life. May many others soon follow her example and be united to the body of Christ, and may the rich blessing of heaven attend all the beloved in the Lord that his grewat name may be glorified, and may there daily be added unto the church, such as shall be saved, is the desire and prayer of my heart.  J.
