From Tennessee.

On the morning of Nov. 16 a party of five brethren and sisters, viz., Elders J. B. Bowman, S. J. Bowman and wife, Sister Rebecca White and the writer, started for a mission point in Knox county, Tennessee.  After traveling a distance of a hundred miles over the Southern railroad, we arrived at Knoxville, where we were met by brethren who conveyed us to their homes in a section of country known as Beaver Creek Valley, about nine or ten miles from Knoxville.  It was late in the evening when we arrived at the home of Bro. Noah Griffith, and after refreshments we repaired to an adjacent church, where Bro. S. J. Bowman preached to attentive listeners.  The next day at 10 A. M. we again assembled for the purpose of organizing a church. The organization was effected by electing Bro. A. M. Peterson to the ministry, Brethren Joseph Bailey and Noah Griffith deacons, Bro. Josh Peterson treasurer and Sister Birdie Dallas clerk.

We met again at 7 P. M. for services and Bro. S. J. Bowman preached to what is hereafter to be known as the Beaver Creek congregation, as that was the name selected for the new church.  On Nov. 18.  at 3 P. M. the newly-organized church met to hold their first love feast.  Twenty-five surrounded the tables of the Lord and participated in the sacred services, which was witnessed by a quiet and attentive audience.

We remained with the Brethren over Sunday and had preaching Sunday and Sunday night. On Monday we returned to our homes in Washington county.

The mission board of Tennessee started a mission at the above-name place about one year ago.  It was in answer to a call made by a few brethren who had moved from North Carolina and located in Knox county.  A. E. Nead.   Limestone, Tenn., Dec.  6.
