Linville Creek, Virginia.

Our congregation met in council Aug. 15. This was our first visit council after the division of the congregation. Part of the congregation was added to Timberville, and a new congregation (Unity) was organized. The members were fairly well represented, and quite a number of ministers were present from adjoining churches. Among them were Eld. J. F. Driver, of Timberville, Eld. George G. Flory, of Greenmount, and Eld. P. S. Thomas of Harrisonburg. One of our elders, Bro. D. H. Zigler has just returned from his late trip to Zurich, Switzerland. All were glad to meet him. He presided at the meeting.

The visiting brethren gave a good report. Since the division of the congregation, we have a membership of 240. With a few exceptions, all are faithful to the church and her work. The ministering brethren gave some timely admonitions, tending to the strengthening of he membership. Four letters of membership were granted. Our love feast for this place will be held Oct. 18, at 3 P. M.  a preparatory council will be held two weeks before. Bro. J. C. Myers, who was chosen to the ministry in the Bridgewater church, about the time he moved here, but hand not yet been installed, was received into this office at this meeting.  He will be a valuable helper to Elders Hays and Sigler, in our congregation.  Bro. Joseph M. Humbert was elected to the deacon’s office, but being absent, was not yet been installed. Bro. P. S. Thomas is conducting a series of meetings here now.
