Bulltown.— Our quarterly council passed off pleasantly. We have three outlying appointments, Copen's Run, Fall Run and Long Run, with a small number of members at each place, isolated from the main body, fourteen, eight and six miles, respectively. Though in an unorganized state and with very little preaching, they remain strong in the faith. Copen's Run made application over four years ago, to be organized into a separate congregation. The church last spring granted their request, and May 14 brethren D. Bosely, W, R. Murphy and the writer went to Copen's and organized them. Bro. Geo. Jamison was elected deacon. The other two outposts also have requested to be organized but, so far, this has not been done. We realize the need of another active minister, as we only have one who can give the ministry the attention that it demands. Any ministering brother who will come to our aid will meet with a hearty reception. We have an interesting Brethren's Sunday school, which will aid in the upbuilding of the cause—E. L, Lockard, June 14.

From Bulltown, W. Va.

On Saturday, Aug. 20, we held our quarterly council at  Copen’s. when the church met we  found the house locked (it being a schoolhouse). We therefore did not have a regular council, but did the best we could. While things seemed, for the time, to be against us, we decided to have a love feast in the near future, provided a suitable house could be obtained.

On Saturday night we preached in an old, vacated dwelling. Although the people had short notice the house was well filled and they gave the best of attention. We were then invited into the Baptist church for Sunday morning services, which we accepted. We had another well-attended meeting, at which good Interest was shown. At the close of the meeting the Brethren obtained permission from the trustees of the same church to hold a love feast in their house. The Brethren then decided to hold their feast in the aforesaid Baptist church on Copen’s Run, Braxton County, VV. Bulltown, W. Va., on Friday, Oct. 7, at 2 P. M.

The Brethren, Baptists, as well as all the different denominations in that section have been having considerable trouble with a man who came there last winter from Pennsylvania, and is trying to preach down the ordinances of the Bible—Communion, Lord's Supper, feet-washing, baptism, etc. I am glad to say, however, that none of the members of our church were led off by this false dogma, but stood firm for the truth, W. R Murphy.
