Knobley Church

The Gospel Messenger Dec. 13, 1887 Vol. 25 No. 49

From Knobley Church, W. Va.

This church is a part of the Greenland church. The division was made this year, and our congregation is under the care of Eld. Wm. George. Our communion, on Oct. 20 and 27, was well attended. The interest was good, and the very best of order prevailed. D. B. and Peter Arnold, Solomon Riser and Geo. W. Leatherman were the ministers present from Beaver Bun, and S. A. Fike, from the German Settlement, who continued the meetings till Sunday night. Bro. Fike is growing old, but his zeal seems to be unabating. Fourteen have been added to the church during the present year, with a good interest, generally. No factions trouble us. I wish to ask a question,—In the language of Jesus to Nicodemus, "Born of water and of the Spirit," why do brethren sometimes quote "born of the water" ?
