Words of Wisdom and Wit
A
simple realization that there are other
points of view is the beginning of wisdom

The real measure of
your wealth is how much
you'd be
worth
if you lost all your money.

Two wolves |
|
One evening an old Cherokee told his
grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.
He said, "My son, the battle is between two 'wolves' inside us all.
"One wolf is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed,
arrogance,
self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority
and ego.
"The other wolf is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility,
kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."
The grandson thought about it for a
minute, and
then asked his grandfather, "Which wolf wins?"
The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

I shall pass through this
world but once.
Any good, therefore, that I can do, or any
kindness that I can show to any human
being, let me do it now. Let me not defer or
neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.
Stephen Grellet

Gratitude
Two kinds of gratitude: the sudden kind
we feel for what we
take, the larger kind
we feel for what we
give.
Edwin Arlington Robinson

“New
Beginnings” thought:
“Vision without action is a daydream.
Action without vision is a nightmare.
~ Japanese proverb

I must keep breathing,
the sun will rise tomorrow
and who knows what possibilities it will bring.
(a line from the movie "Cast a Way)

The polite part of speaking with God
is to be still long enough to listen.
Edward Gloeggler

What should
not be heard by little ears
should not be said by big mouths.

Bumper Sticker Wisdom
When the Power of Love
overcomes the Love of Power
The world will know Peace.

I do not
ask to walk smooth paths
Nor bear an easy load
I pray for strength and fortitude
To climb the rock strewn road.
Give me
such courage I can scale
The hardest peaks alone
And transform every stumbling block
Into a stepping stone.
Gail Brook Burket

If
you hem in both ends
of your day with prayer,
it won't be so likely to
unravel in the middle.

Praise to Thee, my Lord
for all thy creatures...
St. Francis of Assisi

God Grant Us Hope and Faith and Love,
HOPE for a
world
grown cynically cold
Hungry for power
and greedy for gold...
FAITH to
believe
when within
and without
There's a nameless fear
in a world of doubt...
LOVE that
is bigger
than race or creed,
To cover the world
and fulfill each need...
GOD, GRANT
THESE GIFTS
OF FAITH, HOPE and LOVE-
Three things this world
Has so little of...
For only THESE GIFTS
From OUR FATHER ABOVE
Can turn man's sins
From HATRED to LOVE!
Helen Steiner Rice

Blessed is
the person
who is too busy to worry
in the daytime and too
sleepy to worry at night.

"Never
measure God's unlimited power by your limited expectations' -- from Our Daily Bread

"Feeling gratitude and
not expressing it is like wrapping a
present and not giving
it." William Arthur Ward

A father was
approached by his small son who told him proudly, "I know what the Bible means!"
His father smiled and replied, "What do you mean, you 'know' what the Bible
means?" The son replied, "I do know!"
"Okay," said his father. "What does the Bible mean?"
"That's easy, Daddy." the young boy replied excitedly,
"It stands for 'Basic Information Before Leaving Earth.'

Sometimes it seems like God is difficult to find and
impossibly far away. We get so caught up in our small daily duties and
irritations that they become the only things that we can focus on. What we
forget is that God's love and beauty are all around us, every day, if only we
would take the time to look up and see them.
Matthias, Correction Weblog,

Though no one can go back and
make a brand-new start,
anyone can start from now
and make a brand-new end.

You can always recall moving an item to a "safer
place',
but never recall where that place is.
